Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) for US Citizens

Many countries around the world now require police clearance certificates for foreigners coming to their country from the countries where he or she has resided. The government of Kuwait requires that all non-Kuwaiti citizens applying for residence provide a police clearance certificate from their home country. This document must be authenticated by the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in the country where the PCC was issued.

American citizens in the process of obtaining Kuwaiti residency should obtain a police clearance from the United States prior to their arrival in Kuwait. Please note that police clearances are also required for dependents. U.S. Department of State authentication (USDOS) and embassy legalization for U.S. documents must be completed in the United States.

Police Clearance Retrieval for Visa

In the USA, a citizen can obtain a police clearance from various sources including city, county or state police departments. They can also obtain a federal police clearance from the FBI. If you live in the United States, you can complete most of these procedures yourself at a local police station or through the FBI. Requirements to Authenticate a Police Clearance from the Kuwaiti Embassy in Washington, D.C.

1. Original FBI police clearance issued within three months from the date it is to be presented to the embassy for authentication
2. Copy of the passport
3. Copy of Driver’s License to determine embassy jurisdiction
4. Cover letter from applicant stating the purpose for authentication and the applicant’s contact information
5. Letter from the Kuwaiti sponsor stating the purpose for authentication and the sponsor’s contact information
